It’s truly impressive how you can change something that might look unuseful and ready to be thrown away into an art. It’s very well shown in this Pepe Heykoop’s Skin Collection of furniture. This modern leather chair was made in response to the waste of leather produced by the furniture industry each year where they threw away 25 – 30% of leather. The leftover materials are then being used by Pepe Heykoop, stitching them all together manually into random patterns to cover recylced old furniture.

The result is very artistic as each furniture is being wrapped up in size, color, and texture that varies. This reminded me of a leather hat made from leftover leathers. Here we can learn that in the hand of a creative person, what seems to be unused can be turned into a highly living piece.
