Contemporary Furniture Inspired from Water by Vito Selma
Taking the advantage of bamboo and inspiration from water, Filipino designer Vito Selma has created the Baud collection. This collection consists of table and uniquely looking seating design. The designer described the work as follow: “Few languages capture the essence of the wave quite like the Cebuano variant; almost perfectly emulating the smoothness and solidness of water as it crashes against the surf, the sift and swirl of water as it curls inward and out from itself. This collection is a tribute to the ocean that has forever kept the island city of home… home in its undulating embrace.”
It’s interesting to see the shape of the rattan seating and the rattan glass desk created as they do look like the sift and swirl of water, similar to the way the designer has described. We tend to like this furniture to be placed in public space like office and as well as in a house with contemporary interior and large spaces. It will truly catch the attention of anyone seeing it and could become an automatic focal point.
