Modern Home Design with Cottage Garden at Bernier Thibault House by Paul Bernier
How will modern residence look like when it’s being combined with cottage garden? Well the result is like what you’re about to see. This wonderful residence was built in Plateu Mont Royal, next in Montreal, Canada and designed by Canadian architect Paul Bernier. This serene home is dubbed Bernier-Thibault House and it is a home for the architect as well as his family of four. “We wanted to create a house filled with natural light, appeasing, and thought with the day-to-day life in mind. So we had to extend the house and preserve the quality of the garden while working around the various zoning bylaws.”
We love the combination of the cottage garden that goes up to the top of the building. The house has a backyard surrounded by a great natural shade. A perfect place just to throw some barbeques there, but that’s not all, the inner garden there can be enjoyed through the glass doors which can be opened. So either way you can enjoy while it’s closed or when you want to enjoy the fresh Canadian air then you can always opened up the wooden glass doors.
The box located in the garden serves as a playroom, where the other box shelters the master bedroom and located on top of the building. “That box on the roof acts also as a light well for the house below. The west corner is completely glazed and an opening was made in the floor below to allow the natural light to flow in and filter all the way to the ground floor through the semi-transparent wood trellis bridge of the second floor.” All we can say, let’s sit down, relax and enjoy the fresh Canadian air.
