Stylish Curved Staircase designed by Alex Haw for Atmos Studio
For one of their residential projects, Atmos studio has presented a sinewy staircase that could have either grown or melted into its current position. The staircase comes in organic design that reminiscent of the stylised, flowing forms of Art Nouveau most popular around the turn of the 20th century. It is produced using digital production and fabrication for the first time to create what they call “a seamless and deeply sculptural experience”. It is made of an intricate set of simply-cut but highly-detailed flat-pack elements, CNC-carving sheets of MDF and oak directly from our drawings, engraving depths to further split structural strands into ever-finer lineaments, producing elements that perfectly slot together like an architectural jigsaw.
The staircase is designed by architect Alex Haw. It is describe as expanding like a genie released from a lamp, curling and separating and bifurcating from the wall. This staircase has curved shape that makes so unusual but stylish. Recreates the structural flow of the living spaces, incorporating the pattern of the house’s skirting board into its form, the stylish staircase appears to be constantly changing as one travels through it.
