Choosing The Right Flooring at Your Home 2nd Series
Now we’ve come to the 2nd series of choosing the right flooring for your house as we get down to wood flooring, hardwoods, and carpeting. Here you will find the pros and cons about flooring and we hope it will help you choosing the right floor for your house.
Wood. Thanks largely to polyurethane coatings that are impervious to water, wood flooring has made a comeback not just in kitchens. You already may have a wood floor buried under another floor covering. If this is the case, consider exposing it, repairing any damaged boards, and refinishing it. Or install an all-new wood floor. Wood can be finished any way you like, though much of the wood flooring available today comes prefinished in an assortment of shades.
Hardwoods like oak and maple are popular and stand up to a lot of abuse. Softwoods like pine give a more distressed, countrified look. Parquet flooring, another good option as it consists of wood pieces glued together into a geometric pattern. These pre-finished squares can be installed in a way similar to that used for vinyl tiles.
Carpeting is not widely used these days, but it still offers certain advantages. Of all the available types of flooring, carpeting is the quietest and most resilient-and one of the least expensive. Because it’s made of synthetic materials and backed by waterproof latex or foam, kitchen carpeting is washable. On the negative side on carpeting is vulnerable to wear and thus is relatively short-lived. And although it’s washable, carpeting is not as easy to clean and keep sanitary as smooth flooring.
