Started in 2008, Craig Calfee, owner of Calfee Design, the Californian based designer, has been training groups of people around the world to build bamboo bike frames. He is best known for creating an ultra-light carbon fiber frames, but he realized how sturdy bamboo material is, which allows you for a smooth ride due to its natural vibration qualities.
The designer has successfully trained groups at the city of Accra and Abompe to make bamboo frames, which perhaps this is the first bike frame in the world. And the result is this magnificent Bamboosero bikes with frames varying from road bikes, mountain bikes, and cargo bikes with a price of $700. This means Craig isn’t just making a fortune, but he successfully creating a new job there in Africa. I wonder when he will be coming to South East Asia, perhaps Indonesia and maybe Malaysia.
